The airport is located 12 kilometres (five miles) north-east of the city city centre. A bus shuttle service runs to the centre every 20 minutes - alternatively, there is a good metro line and an airport express rail connection. Once in the city, be warned that Hamburg is very busy at the
best of times. The wise park their cars and use public transportation which is both fast and efficient. Most public transportation services, the U-Bahn Bahn (subway), S-Bahn (city rail), A-Bahn (commuter rail), numerous bus routes, and harbour ferries, are operated by Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (HVV)
